Silica Hotel: Spa-cation in Iceland

Silica Hotel: Spa-cation in Iceland

After all your early-morning excursions and long drives around Iceland, you’re going to need a "vacation from your vacation”.  If you want to feel like a true ice queen, splurge on a night at the Silica Hotel at the Blue Lagoon. Your bank account won’t be happy, but your worn-out body will thank you.

Silica Hotel is pricey but it's worth the stay for at least one night (preferably on your last night). Think breakfast in robes, massages in the private geothermal lagoon, and drinks by the fireplace while gazing at the Northern Lights—it’s a Scandinavian dream come true.

We took full advantage of all the neat amenities at Silica Hotel- from the comfy beds, heated bathroom floors, and the Northern Lights wake up call.  The price of the hotel also included VIP admission to the Blue Lagoon, complimentary drinks at the Lava Restaurant, and a delicious, Scandinavian breakfast.

The highlight of our stay was the private geothermal lagoon that was far away from all the Blue Lagoon crowds.  It was so empty and clean that we were able to scoop up the mud from the lagoon floor and smear it all over our bodies for some natural exfoliation.  If you break it down, the price of Silica Hotel pretty much covered an entrance fee to a spa.

Silica Hotel is only a 30 minute drive to the airport making it very convenient for your returning flight home.  Staying at Silica Hotel is the ideal place to relax on your last night. For us it was the cherry on top of an epic, Icelandic adventure. So treat yourself, you deserve it.
