5 Romantic Views in Italy

August '15: My last day in Rome before moving back to New York.

Of all the places to fall in love, I was lucky to fall in love with Mikey while we were living in Italy (cliché, I know...).  We met half way around the world just to find out that we grew up 30 minutes away from each other.  Falling in love with an American wasn't my intention, but I wouldn't have our Rome-mance any other way (except for our lack of fluency in Italian which I blame Mikey for).

Time & time again Italy sweeps me off my feet. We experienced so many beautiful places in Italy, & Mikey was the perfect character to my Italian love story.  In ode to the first day of February/ month of love, here are some of our favorite, romantic views in Italy.

1) Positano, Amalfi Coast

On my 24th birthday we took a weekend trip with our grad school friends to one of the gems of the Amalfi Coast: Positano.  This seaside village is breathtaking no matter what angle you catch it from.  From dusk to dawn, Positano is stunning.

2) Ponte Vecchio, Florence

I wish I could put this view in my pocket.  The view from the Ponte Vecchio is a complete heart-throb.  The colorful italian achitecture, glossy rivers, and the Tuscan green hills compliment each other so perfectly.

3) Bellagio, Lake Como

We fell hard for the Italian lakes after visiting Lake Como.  Especially after experiencing the elegant views from the lovely village of Bellagio aka the "pearl of the lake".  Lake Como encompasses everything beautiful about Italian landscapes: colorful Italian architecture, rolling green hills, and cliffy lakeside villages with dramatic views of the Alps from behind.

4) Malcesine, Lake Garda

Moments by the Italian lakes are nearly perfect.  I mean what could go wrong with a view like this, a good bottle of wine, and the best person by your side.  Not only is Lake Garda a popular holiday destination close to the Dolomites, it's also a kiteboarder's paradise.

5) Villa Borghese, Rome

Lastly is home, bella Roma.  Our love blossomed in this beautiful city from our nightly strolls around the Trevi Fountain, to wine on the Spanish Steps, to PDA on the Castel Sant'Angelo bridge, to passionate fights at our rustic apartment courtyard, and to sunsets overlooking Piazza di Popollo at Villa Borghese.  So many special moments took place during Villa Borghese sunsets—this Roman view will always have our hearts.

Love is in the crisp Lake Como air!

Love is in the crisp Lake Como air!

Italy is the perfect backdrop for any love story.  The country's romantic ambiance will have you falling in love with your significant other over and over again.  If there's one thing we could learn from Italians, it's how to love passionately.

A lover isn't necessary to fall in love with Italy's romantic views, but it sure does enhance the moment.  What are some of your favorite romantic views in Italy?
