Farmer’s Boutique Resort: Finding Calm in the Lotus Ponds in Thailand

Farmer’s Boutique Resort: Finding Calm in the Lotus Ponds in Thailand

Tea time on the terrace

Tea time on the terrace

A little slice of heaven in the middle of Koh Samui, Thailand.  Overlooking rice terraces, lotus ponds, and the Samui hills  — Farmer’s Boutique Resort is a perfect retreat from Koh Samui's upbeat beaches and hustle & bustle.

I stayed here after a silent meditation retreat in Lamai and I couldn’t have picked a better place to relax and ground in Thailand.

How to get to
Farmer’s Boutique Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand

Mae Nam Pier in Koh Samui - only a 5 minute drive from Farmer’s Boutique Resort

Lomprayah Speed Boat

  • From Bangkok:  You can take an overnight train from Bangkok then take the Lomprayah speedboat to Koh Samui island.  The overnight train from Bangkok is very comfortable.  For booking trains, buses, or boats from Bangkok to the Thai islands, I highly recommend booking through 12asiago.  Traveling through Thailand via public transportation can be a bit confusing, but 12asiago conveniently organizes everything for you and the website is easy to navigate.

  • From Koh Tao or Koh Phangon:  Take the Lomprayah speedboat to Koh Samui.  The ferry takes less than 2 hours.  The Lomprayah speedboat in Koh Samui is located at Mae Nam port, which is only a 5 minute drive from Farmer’s Boutique Resort.

Bophut Fisherman Village only 15 minutes away

Flight

The more expensive option but the quickest way to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok (or elsewhere) is to fly to the island’s domestic airport.  If you’re pressed on time and not on a budget, go for it!

Grab Taxi

If you’re on Koh Samui island already, you can easily book a grab taxi (which is Southeast Asia’s Uber) to Farmer’s Boutique Resort.

Pool Villa

Heaven on Koh Samui

Heaven on Koh Samui

Upon arrival, I was welcomed by the hospitable staff and upgraded to the pool villa.  I was traveling solo and the villa was huge for a party of 1 (the villa could easily fit a family of 3/4).

I was enamored by the design of the room — coconut wood floors, teak-colonial decor, high ceilings, and a semi-outdoor/ tropical shower.  The pool villa was farm chic meets classic Thailand.

The room was cozy and spacious, and I spent most of my time in the villa.  It was hard to take my eyes off the beautiful view of the rice fields, lotus ponds, & Samui hills. Every time I took a quick dip to cool off from the Thai heat, I wound up spending an hour in the pool staring at the serene landscape.

The pool villa at Farmer’s Boutique Resort had everything I needed — beautiful view, private pool, comfy amenities, room service, impeccable wifi…I could easily stay there forever.

Nothing to wine about

Breakfast every morning was delicious and filling.  During check in, you fill out a custom form for preferred breakfast items - such as your style of fried rice, eggs, bread, coffee/tea, and fruits.

Breakfast was served on my terrace every morning.  It was a great way to start the day while lotus flower gazing and reading a book.  Be sure to watch sunset on your porch as well - it’s even better with a glass of wine!

Farmer’s Boutique
Resort Grounds

Aside from the villas, there’s a pool, restaurant, and gym on site.  The resort is located on a rice field/ lotus pond farm, so walking through the grounds feels like a Thai dream.

There are complimentary bike rentals at the resort if you want to explore the resort or town.  Location is very close (about a 5 minute drive) to the Maenam beach and about a 15-20 minute drive to Bophut and other attractions.  I was leaving for Koh Tao via the Lomprayah speedboat early in the morning from Maenam, so staying at Farmer’s Boutique Resort was the perfect location.

I highly recommend staying at Farmer’s Boutique Resort for a relaxing getaway in Koh Samui, Thailand.  Especially if you’ve exhausted the noisy beach towns in Koh Samui or coming from the 7 day day silent meditation retreat at Dipabhavan Meditation Center like I did.

Self care doesn’t end there, so go ahead and re-treat yourself at Farmer’s Boutique Resort — you deserve it!
